(Fight Against Child Education Deficiency) Your specific topic: Helping the students at the Bei Sha Wu Li Dian School (Donating School Supplies) The purpose- Why are you doing this action? To make their lives easier, at least in school, and to provide them with the basic classroom necessities that they need for a basic education. To help them be successful and lead to a better future. The message- Why should people be informed about this issue? Because we believe that every child has the right to a good education, and that thisis hard to accomplish if you don't have basic things such as pencils and paper. We want people to know that there are other children out there (particularly in China) who are not as fortunate as us and deserve our help. A goal- make sure this is a project that can be done and hopefully continued Our goal is to visit and interact with the students at Bei Sha Wu Li Dian school. We also hope to raise enough money to be able to purchase standard materials to help them complete their studies. We could make it a tradition for all the 8th graders after us, and give them ideas and advice on what to do, and how to continue helping them. A short-term plan for achieving your goal (keep it simple and don’t be too ambitious- again make sure you CAN actually do this) To be able to fund raise through rose selling, scarf making/selling and bake sales. Also, MAYBE having a book drive where students bring in old books for us to donate to the school (Chinese or simple English). A long-term plan for achieving your goal We want to organize activities with the Bei Sha Wu Li Dian School students during China Alive, which is during the month of May. We will plan games so students from both schools can interact and get to know each other. We talked to Mr. Weiss and he told us that we would have to arrange gift bags for about 100 children, filled with school supplies such as pencils, erasers and rulers. He also told us about some of the activities they engaged in with the kids such as "Pass The Ball" and "Charades". We might also arrange to build tables and chairs for ONE classroom, bringing the materials with us on China Alive and working in groups to make something. Resources needed for this action plan Roses - flower market, prices, number of roses, color. Bake Sale - bakers, treats. Scarves - fabric market, sewers, prices. Division of responsibilities- who will do what? Amreen - start on the powerpoint, try to buy roses. Gwen - edit the wiki (add to it, change things).
